Adult elephants are considered invulnerable to predation as they often chase off predators but calves are sometimes preyed on by lions and spotted hyenas. The main threats to this species are habitat loss and Poaching. This species is known as the African bush elephant or, Loxodonta Africana, it is considered an endangered species.
