Diverse Habitats of Mangrove Ecosystems.
In this video clip, we see the underwater view of mangrove roots reaching down. These roots are covered with colorful sponges, and small fish swim around them. The water is very clear, with sunlight coming through and lighting up the scene. The mangrove roots give shelter and food to many sea creatures, making it a lively place. Fish swim in and out of the roots, and the sponges add bright colors. This shot shows the busy life and variety of the ecosystem around the mangrove roots.

Mangrove root systems are formed through the growth of specialized roots called prop roots and pneumatophores. Prop roots extend from the trunk and lower branches into the water, providing stability and anchoring the trees in soft, muddy substrates. Pneumatophores, or aerial roots, grow upwards from the submerged roots to facilitate gas exchange in waterlogged, low-oxygen environments. These roots play a critical role in protecting shorelines from erosion, trapping sediments, and improving water quality by filtering pollutants.
