The Red-wattled lapwing, scientifically known as Vanellus indicus, is a bird species renowned for its striking appearance and graceful movements. This bird is a medium-sized wader with a length of about 30-35 centimeters (12-14 inches). It has a brownish-grey upper body with a white belly and breast. One of its most notable features is the prominent red fleshy wattle, or fleshy lobe, located below each eye, which gives the bird its name. The crown of the head is black, and it has a white throat patch and black and white wings. The legs are long and yellow, and the bill is red with a black tip. These distinctive markings help differentiate the Red-wattled Lapwing from other lapwing species.
